Seks said early elections would demand amendments to the law authorising the government to dissolve local self-government bodies and call early elections.
Asked to comment on the elections in Pozega, Seks told a news conference in parliament that the election results of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) were more or less in line with the results of the parliamentary election. He said the surprising fact was that other parties, apart from the Social Democrats (SDP) which won the election and the HDZ, which was second, did not cross the election threshold.
The biggest novelty of the elections in Pozega is bipolarity, Seks said.
He added that some 40 percent of the voters went to the polls. About 20 percent of the votes were given to parties which failed to cross the election threshold, said Seks.
