OSIJEK, March 12 (Hina) - Croatia will complete the construction of 94 kilometres of highway from the border with Bosnia-Herzegovina to the border with Hungary by the end of 2007, the government decided at a session in the eastern
city of Osijek on Friday.

The highway will be part of the so-called Corridor 5c that will run
from the Croatian Adriatic port of Ploce via Bosnia-Herzegovina,
eastern Croatia and Hungary to Kiev, Ukraine.
Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said that the road would be important not
only for Osijek County through which it would be passing but also for
the whole of Croatia.
The Minister of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development, Bozidar
Kalmeta, said that all preparations for the construction of the
Croatian section of the highway would be finalised by the end of 2005
and that construction works worth 414 million euros would start in
early 2006.
The government also announced the reconstruction and construction of
several roads in Osijek County, and said that it would make every
effort to include the Baranja region in a project of construction of a
gas network in the next five-year period ending by 2010.
The session was also attended by Osijek County Prefect Kresimir
Bubalo, Osijek Mayor Zlatko Kramaric and the head of the State
Administration Office, Franjo Zdravcevic.
