SARAJEVO, Feb 18 (Hina) - The leaders of all parties which have deputies in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Bosnia-Herzegovina signed in Sarajevo on Wednesday a statement confirming their readiness for a political
consensus which is necessary to adopt laws which should bring the country closer to the EU and NATO.
SARAJEVO, Feb 18 (Hina) - The leaders of all parties which have
deputies in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of
Bosnia-Herzegovina signed in Sarajevo on Wednesday a statement
confirming their readiness for a political consensus which is
necessary to adopt laws which should bring the country closer to the
EU and NATO.#L#
The statement was signed after a meeting which was attended by the
leaders of all 12 parliamentary parties. The meeting was called at the
initiative of the speaker of the House of Representatives, Nikola
Spiric.
Spiric told reporters he expected all parties to act responsibly and
fulfil assumed obligations in a consistent manner, primarily those
referring to legislative reforms which the EU insists on.
The leader of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), Sulejman Tihic,
the Serb Democratic Party's (SDS) Dragan Kalinic, and Barisa Colak of
the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) confirmed that their parties were
ready to support the implementation of the requested reforms.
The High Representative in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Paddy Ashdown, earlier
sent an open message to the country's political leaders, stating that
they would all suffer consequences if they did not forget mutual
differences and endorsed reform tasks.
