At its second session, which was held yesterday under the chairmanship
of acting head Antun Kapraljevic, the commission expressed
satisfaction with reactions to calls for the submission of such lists,
parliament said in a statement on Thursday. The commission expects the
government and parliament to submit lists of officials they appointed,
elected and confirmed.
The government is also expected to adopt a decree on gifts for
officials, which will define situations when officials are allowed to
accept gifts of small value, how more valuable gifts will be
registered, stored and managed, which gifts will have to be reported
to the commission, and which will be treated as state property.
Members of the commission expressed hope that parliament would soon
appoint the seventh member of the commission. Besides the Croatian
People's Party (HNS), all Opposition parties refused to nominate their
candidates for the commission, thus opposing the Croatian Democratic
Union's (HDZ) decision to elect a representative of the Independent
Democratic Serb Party (SDSS) -- a party from the so-called HDZ quota.
