ZAGREB, Jan 27(Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic sent a letter
to Prime Minister Ivo Sanader commenting on a statement made recently
by Deputy Prime Minister Andrija Hebrang, the President's Office said
in a statement on Tuesday.#L#
"A minister and deputy prime minister, Andrija Hebrang, said in the
Nova TV talk-show 'Drugo lice' that I 'devalued the function of the
President of the Republic' and that Croatia 'still needs a person who
would be the pillar, standard and reference", reads the letter. It is
also noted that statements like Hebrang's bring into question the
announced cooperation between the Health Ministry and the government
on one side and the President of the Republic on the other.
"I am confident that as Prime Minister and leader of the party which
composed the government you will be able to evaluate the consequences
of Hebrang's statement and react appropriately to it," reads President
Mesic's letter to the PM.
