"We do not want to be taken by surprise, we are ready for the early elections," Racan told a news conference explaining the SDP leadership had discussed this topic last night, although it was not still known whether the ruling HDZ was planning to organise early parliamentary elections.
Alongside usual political activities which this strongest opposition party carries out, the SDP also intensively works on removing its weaknesses inside party bodies. As a result, the SDP main committee last night decided to disband the party branch in Sibenik County, the party leader said.
In this context he added that the party was reforming itself so as to create more space for younger members "who can address problems of the present-day rather than those from the past".
