VIENNA, Nov 8 (Hina) - Two and a half million people each ear become victims of people trafficking, it was said at the end of a two-day OSCE conference in Vienna on Tuesday.

The OSCE conference on people smuggling pooled some 200 representatives of 55 OSCE member-states and nongovernmental organisations.

People trafficking was the reason for the OSCE to organise the first international conference dedicated to this problem so as to raise awareness among member-states about the implementation of measures not only those aimed at the prevention of "sexual exploitation" but also those aimed at preventing "labour exploitation", OSCE special rapporteur for preventing people trafficking Helga Konrad said.

Also proposed were measures aimed at an efficient prevention of this problem of modern slavery: the unification of the international practice, the adjustment of legal systems and the necessity to intensify efforts against the cause of people trafficking.

Croatia's delegation was led by the head of the Government's Office for Human rights, Luka Madjeric, who informed the participants of Croatia's experience in preventing people smuggling and labour exploitation.
