MOSTAR, Nov 1 (Hina) - The leader of the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP), Anto Djapic, has said that he is against the establishment of the third entity in Bosnia-Herzegovina where the Croats would make a majority, explaining that such a third entity would not protect rights of the Croat people.

Under the 1995 Dayton peace accords, Bosnia-Herzegovina consists of two entities, one of them being the Croat-Muslim Federation and the other the Serb entity. The country has three constituent peoples: Bosnian Muslims (Bosniaks), Croats and Serbs.

"The third entity would be tiny and would not contribute to the equality of the Croats in Bosnia-Herzegovina," the chief of the Croatian opposition right-wing party told the Television of the Bosnian Federation on late Monday night.

Djapic said he believed that for the international community it would be more acceptable to rescind the Serb entity (the Republic of Srpska) rather than helping establish an additional entity in Bosnia.

He added that the HSP was in favour of arranging Bosnia-Herzegovina into cantons.

Roman Catholic bishops in Bosnia also propose the arrangement of the country into four region.

The bishops suggest organising Bosnia as an integral, decentralised state which, instead of the existing Serb entity and Croat-Muslim federation, would have four cantons or regions, Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar, and Tuzla, in which each people would have a minimum 30 per cent share in the legislative and executive authority. The bishops call on the public as well as the international community to take the step necessary to change the Constitution as soon as possible.

On the other hand, some Bosnian Croat leaders are in favour of the introduction of the third entity for the Croats.
