Presenting the results of the poll conducted on over 5,000 respondents, Group Selectio director Nenad Brkic in Zagreb on Tuesday declined to reveal the amount of the average monthly salary which the Group arrived at as the average of salaries of all the respondents. Bakic announced that they would present average salaries for each sector next month.
According to the poll, the salaries of men are by 19.4 percent higher than salaries paid to women.
Salaries paid in Zagreb are by 22 percent higher than the average salary.
Those who got employment after the fall of Communism receive higher salaries than 'older' employees, which Bakic explains as a consequence of a transitional shock and employers' bigger trust in younger staff.
Employees with university degrees have by 42.5 percent higher salaries than those who have finished only secondary schools.
According to economic branches, the best paid jobs are in financial institutions, which is followed by the pharmaceutical industry and the information technology and telecommunications sector.
On the other hand, the lowest salaries are in public administration, judiciary and nongovernmental organisations, science, education and arts.
The most lucrative jobs are those of information technology engineers, other engineers and economists.
The more employees in the company, the higher the salaries, is one of the conclusions of the opinion poll.
Companies with less than 20 workers pay salaries lower by 13.2 percent than the average salary, with salaries above the average one being paid in companies with more than 50 employees.
To work for foreign institutions and private companies owned mostly by foreigners means higher salaries. The lowest salaries are paid in domestic institutions.
