The hauliers said on Sunday they would de-block the entrance and transport goods, which waited to be transported from the factory, by their twenty trucks.
The spokesman for the hauliers, Ivo Knezovic told Hina that the decision was made because of 1,700 TLM workers who, just like hauliers, earned their wages working for the TLM.
According to the hauliers, the protest was staged spontaneously last Wednesday because local hauliers feared that they would no longer be hired for transport jobs after the Slovene company Viator&Vektor took over the factory's transport unit. They also announced a general strike for 5 September.
Knezovic, however, said today that they would hold talks with Croatian government officials on 5 September, which is why they cancelled the start of the strike, previously scheduled for 5 September.
All four trade union associations in the Light Metal Factory sent an open letter to Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Friday, asking for an immediate de-blocking of the main entrance to the plant.
The unionists severely criticised the blockade saying that this caused huge damage to the ailing company.
In the meantime government officials and TLM managers, who held a meeting on Saturday, decided to impose a moratorium on contracts referring to the sale of the Sibenik factory to the Slovene company and to an exclusive right which the Viator&Vektor should have regarding the transport of goods into and out of the factory in the next three years. The hauliers, who described the deals with the Slovene company as harmful, asked for their revocation.
