World Bank vice-president to visit Croatia

ZAGREB, Aug 31 (Hina) - World Bank Vice-President for Europe andCentral Asia Shigeo Katsu will be visiting Croatia from September 1 to4 to collect information on Croatia's achievements as well aschallenges, and to discuss the World Bank's role in assisting thenational reform plan which is aimed at successful integration with theEuropean Union.
ZAGREB, Aug 31 (Hina) - World Bank Vice-President for Europe and Central Asia Shigeo Katsu will be visiting Croatia from September 1 to 4 to collect information on Croatia's achievements as well as challenges, and to discuss the World Bank's role in assisting the national reform plan which is aimed at successful integration with the European Union.

Katsu, who is visiting Croatia at the invitation of Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, will meet the Croatian PM and members of his cabinet.

Apart from Zagreb, the World Bank official will also visit Vukovar, the port of Ploce and Dubrovnik, where he will meet representatives of local authorities and the private sector.

During Katsu's visit to the Ploce port, an agreement will be signed between the World Bank and the Croatian government on a World Bank loan advance for the construction of two new port terminals amounting to USD1.75 million. The total value of the project is around EUR75 million.

Since 1993 the World Bank has granted Croatia 32 loans for 26 projects, as well as ensured the signing of deeds of donation with international funds and governments and managed almost all donations worth more than USD33.95 million.

The granted loans amount to USD656.36 million and EUR620.02 million.
