The agreements are part of the HBOR's program aimed at boosting exports with loans granted by foreign clients' commercial banks.
The agreement with the Alfa Bank, one of Russia's biggest private banks, covers loans amounting to EUR20 million, so far the highest limit agreed with a foreign bank. Individual loans for export deals amount to 100,000 euros.
The agreement with Belgrade's Komercijalna Banka is worth four million euros, with the lowest individual loan amounting to 50,000 euros.
This is the first agreement between the HBOR and a business bank from Serbia and Montenegro. HBOR officials say the reason for opening this credit line is Croatia's growing trade with Serbia and Montenegro and a growing number of business contracts between Croatian exporters and clients from Serbia and Montenegro.
According to the HBOR, Croatia's exports to Serbia and Montenegro in 2004 amounted to USD294 million, while imports totalled USD140 million, which makes Serbia and Montenegro one of the few countries with which Croatia has a positive foreign trade balance.
