PRISTINA, Aug 12 (Hina) - The OSCE Secretary-General, Marc Perrin de Brichambault, on Friday pledged in Pristina that the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) would continue supporting democratic processes in Kosovo and added that he was encouraged with what had so far been done.

We shall be with you in coming days, weeks and months. They are very important for Kosovo, said Perrin de Brichambault, who stepped into the office of the OSCE Secretary-General in June.

This organisation will consider its further presence in Kosovo and the definition of a political status of the province, Perrin de Brichambault said after he held talks with Kosovo Prime Minister Bajram Kosumi.

Kosumi described the OSCE mission as one of the most successful missions in Kosovo after the 1999 war.

"The OSCE has four times successfully organised free and democratic elections in Kosovo," the premier said adding that the OSCE was currently assisting in the building local democratic institutions.

"On this path we have also problems" Kosumi admitted, pointing out difficulties in the respect for rights of minorities and guarantees for the return of refugees.

Although we are firmly committed, the cooperation between ethnic communities is not at a desirable level, he added.

The OSCE leader also held talks with the presidency of the Kosovo parliament, the first deputy of the UN Civilian Administrator, Lawrence Rossin, and the commander of the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR), Yves de Kermabon.

On Friday also, the OSCE official visited the Serb-populated North Mitrovica where he met Serb representatives.

On Thursday, he toured a police school in the town of Vucitrn. The school, which was established in 1999, works under the supervision of the OSCE.

Brichambault's visit to Pristina on Friday was also accompanied by a protest rally of mothers whose children went missing during the war. They staged the rally in front of the Kosovo parliament protesting against cancellation of their meeting with the OSCE Secretary-General. At least 3,000 people, most of whom are ethnic Albanians, are registered as missing persons in Kosovo.
