Slovene parliament endorses entry of Romania and Bulgaria into EU in 2007

LJUBLJANA, April 22 (Hina) - The Slovene parliament on Fridayunanimously endorsed the signing of the admission agreements ofBulgaria and Romania with the European Union, and members ofparliament and several government officials said that the the twocountries' entry in the EU in 2007 would have a positive impact on thestabilisation of the entire area of south-eastern Europe.
LJUBLJANA, April 22 (Hina) - The Slovene parliament on Friday unanimously endorsed the signing of the admission agreements of Bulgaria and Romania with the European Union, and members of parliament and several government officials said that the the two countries' entry in the EU in 2007 would have a positive impact on the stabilisation of the entire area of south-eastern Europe.

All the 59 present deputies endorsed the government's position that the admission of Bulgaria and Romania into the EU would produce positive developments for Slovenia and the entire European bloc and have an impact on further stabilising the entire south-eastern part of Europe.

"We hope that the future admission of Bulgaria and Romania will be a good message and encouragement to countries in the western Balkans and their efforts to join the EU," said the chairman of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee, Jozef Jerovsek.

Slovene Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel told the parliament that Ljubljana supported the start of Croatia's membership talks with the EU and that it was in favour ot negotiations with Serbia-Montenegro as part of efforts to stabilise the western Balkans,
