The Ljubljana-based Dnevnik daily quoted the two presidents as saying that the climate in the bilateral relations had been improving.
The daily pointed out Drnovsek's statement that "Slovenia needs Croatia and Croatia needs Slovenia", explaining that it primarily referred to Slovenia's economic relations and Croatia's European prospects.
The Drnovsek-Mesic meeting in Bizeljsko received great coverage by the media in the Italian city of Trieste, as the two presidents also commented on a meeting "for historic reconciliation" at the trilateral level with Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi.
Il Piccolo daily ran a front-page article on the matter. It said that Croatia and Italy had launched an initiative for a trilateral summit meeting "to file away the wounds from the past into archives".
