LJUBLJANA, April 3 (Hina) - Slovene President Janez Drnovsek on
Sunday sent a letter of condolence to Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger on the death of
Pope John Paul II whom the Slovene official praised for "leaving an indelible
imprint on the Catholic Church and the world". The pope's words,
work and life will always be an encouragement for efforts to create a more
humane world, Drnovsek said, adding the pope was a great friend of Slovenia.
Slovenia will remember John Paul II as a resolute defender of its
freedom, the Apostolic Nuncio in Ljubljana, Santos Abril y Castello, said
today.
Requiem masses were held in all churches throughout the country.
