VUKOVAR, April 21 (Hina) - A two-day round table discussion on the protection of private property and acquired rights of refugees and displaced persons under Annex G of the Agreement on Succession Issues started in the eastern city of Vukovar on Thursday.

The event, organised by the Vukovar Centre for Legal Assistance and Psychosocial Help, is attended by NGOs from Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia and Montenegro, and representatives of the four countries' authorities and the OSCE Mission to Croatia, said the president of the Vukovar centre, Ljubomir Mikic.

Mikic said that on its first day the round table discussion would focus on the importance of Annex G for solving the problems of refugees and displaced people, respect for human rights, the fulfillment of international obligations and regional cooperation.

Mikic recalled that the agreement on succession to the former Yugoslav federation was signed by former Yugoslav republics in Vienna on June 29, 2001.

The Croatian parliament ratified the agreement in March 2004 and it went into force in June that year. On its second day the round table discussion will focus on the status of the agreement in national legislation systems in Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia and Montenegro, and the interpretation and application of Annex G.
