Presenting the coalition's platform in the headquarters of the HDZ branch for Zagreb, the branch's chairwoman declined to say who would be the top candidate of the HDZ-led coalition's list, only saying that this person, who would run for Zagreb mayor, had already been chosen, but his/her identity would probably be revealed on Thursday.
The HDZ, which is the ruling party in Croatia, has so far been in the Opposition in the City of Zagreb.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP), that has to date been in power in the City of Zagreb together with the Croatian People's Party (HNS), today presented its list for the coming local elections. The list consists of candidates from the SDP, and its coalition partners - the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) and the Croatian Party of Pensioners (HSU), and some independent candidates, prominent people from the public life.
Branches of the HDZ, the HSLS, the DC and the Democratic Party of Pensioners on Wednesday also signed an agreement on a coalition for the forthcoming local elections in Sisak (50 kilometres south-east of Zagreb) and Sisak-Moslavina County.
At the previous local elections in Sisak, the HDZ won the polls in coalition with the DSU and some other minor parties. After those elections it formed the ruling coalition with the HSLS and the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP).
In the eastern city of Osijek, an agreement on a coalition before and after local elections was signed by the branches of the Liberal Party (LS), the Croatian People's Party - Liberal Democrats (HNS - LD), the local SBHS party and the Green Party for Croatia (ZH).
The top candidate on their joint list for the city of Osijek will be the current Osijek mayor, Zlatko Kramaric. Vilim Herman of the HNS-LD will be the coalition list's top candidate for Osijek-Baranja County.
Local elections in Croatia will be held on 15 May.
