Cehok told Hina on Thursday that he had done so because Zagreb HSLS branch chief Darinko Kosor made statements in the media that were contrary to decisions of the party's bodies.
Cehok said that his decision came after Kosor told reporters that despite recommendations by the HSLS leadership, he would not sever the pre-election coalition with the Croatian True Revival (HIP), led by Miroslav Tudjman, and the Croatian Social Democrats (HSD), led by Zdravko Tomac.
Kosor confirmed that the only 'sin' of the dissolved party branch was its decision to form "the Third Way" coalition with the said parties ahead of the local elections scheduled for 15 May.
Cehok appointed himself temporary commissioner in the Zagreb HSLS branch, stating that decisions on possible coalitions in Zagreb would be made by him or the person whom he would entrust with that task.
