Set up in 1949, UNMOGIP began in January that year to supervise the cease-fire agreed between India and Pakistan in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Since renewed hostilities in 1971, UNMOGIP has been monitoring the cease-fire called for by the United Nations Security Council.
Sudic, who will be in the mission for one year, will join five other Croatians as well as 44 colleagues from nine countries who are deployed as unarmed military observers. Croatia has been participating in the mission since 2002.
