ZAGREB, March 14 (Hina) - A study called "Medacki dzep - nepostojeca bitka i prijepori" (Medak Pocket - A Non-existing Operation and Disputes, unofficial translation) was launched in Zagreb on Monday by its author Miroslav Medjimorec and the editor of the "National Security and the Future" magazine, Miroslav Tudjman.

The study, published by the "Sveti Juraj" association, deals with numerous aspects, facts, sources and disputes related to the September 1993 combined military-police operation, events that preceded it and events which happened during and after the operation.

Medjimorec claims that the Medak Pocket Operation was carried out legitimately and successfully and that the Croatian army and police liberated occupied Croatian territory outside the then UN pink zone in line with the laws of war. The UN Canadian battalion, as a direct instrument of the international community in that area, exerted pressure and was involved in the operation in different ways, and a myth was created about its participation in a great battle that never happened. The study brings the truth about the Medak Pocket Operation without questioning the jurisdiction of the Hague tribunal and possible war crimes, the author said. The study was prompted by the generally accepted notion that a crime was committed on part of Croatian forces, a notion that has had far-reaching consequences for the Croatian state, army and people, Medjimorec said.

Miroslav Tudjman said that the Hague prosecution was selectively choosing information and establishing a state of facts based on incomplete information. Croatia has published a dozen studies, and numerous documents show that the theory about the criminal enterprise with which Croatian generals Mirko Norac, Rahim Ademi and the late Janko Bobetko are charged is not true, Tudjman said.
