Perisic decided to voluntarily surrender after receiving the indictment the UN court issued against him, the Serbian government said in a press release on Sunday.
The governments of Serbia and the state union of Serbia and Montenegro last week decided to give the Hague tribunal the necessary guarantees so that General Perisic could be released pending trial.
The indictment against Perisic will be unsealed and issued on Monday, after he arrives at the tribunal's detention centre, according to Florence Hartmann, spokesperson for the Office of the Prosecutor.
