BELGRADE, Feb 17 (Hina) - According to the latest poll conducted by the Faktor Plus agency, citizens of Serbia have a better opinion of former Yugoslav President and ICTY indictee Slobodan Milosevic today than three years ago.

The results of the poll were president in Belgrade on Thursday.

According to the poll conducted in February, one third of Serbian citizens (33.6%) have a positive opinion of Milosevic. The poll was conducted randomly on 1,582 citizens of Serbia. According to a poll conducted by the same agency in April 2002, only 20.2 percent of Serbian citizens had a positive opinion of Milosevic.

Agency director Vladimir Pejic, told reporters that the percentage of citizens who have a positive opinion of Milosevic was increasing probably because the new governments failed to meet the expectations of citizens after the fall of the Milosevic's regime in October 2000.

Pejic said that Milosevic's attitude before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), namely the success of his plan to present his defence as the defence of national interests, also contributed to the increase of his popularity.
