During their hunger strike, the 'erased' Slovenes were received by the head of the European Commission Mission in Ljubljana, Erwan Fouere. They also informed some international human rights institutions about their problem.
The association represents the interests of 16,305 non-Slovenes who on February 26, 1992 lost residence in Slovenia because they failed to seek or were denied Slovene citizenship. As they were erased from the lists of Slovene citizens they are usually called the erased.
Two years ago, the Slovene Constitutional Court ruled that the 1992 decisions on not granting those people Slovene citizenship had not been based on the law.
