Europe (OSCE) and elected KnutVollebaek, a former Norwegian foreign minister, the first chairman ofthis Panel of Eminent Persons.
BRDO PRI KRANJU, Feb 17 (Hina) - A group of seven well experienced
diplomats on Thursday held their first session in the Slovene resort of Brdo
Pri Kranju to discuss drafts for a reform of the Organisation for Security and
Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and elected Knut Vollebaek, a former Norwegian
foreign minister, the first chairman of this Panel of Eminent Persons.Dimitrij Rupel, the Foreign Minister of Slovenia, which is currently
chairing the OSCE, told a news conference that the duty of the Panel was to
propose the reforms of this organisation, which is celebrating its 30
anniversary this year.
Members of the panel are Nikolai Afanasjevski of the Russian Federation,
Hans van den Broek of the Netherlands, Wilhelm Hoeynck of Germany, Kuanish
Sultanov of Kazakhstan, Richard S. Williamson of the United States, Miomir
Zuzul of Croatia and Vollebaek at its helm.
