The delegation informed Mesic of the project launched late last year under the auspices of the Council of Europe. It focuses on cooperation among local and regional communities from Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, and Greece.
Di Stasi said the project, modeled on the cooperation among the Black Sea and the Baltic countries, would be presented in the European Union as well.
Mesic welcomed every form of regional cooperation which encourages European association, especially among EU member and nonmember countries.
"Cooperation among regions is cooperation in united Europe," Mesic said, adding that all regions have their characteristics so there are enough reasons to cooperate.
In his capacity as chairman of the interim Adriatic Council, Jakovcic said Zagreb was the first capital in which the project was being presented. He expects support from other states as well as regional and European organisations.
