PODGORICA, Feb 24 (Hina) - Next week Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo
Djukanovic will meet EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana for talks on the
transformation of the state union of Serbia and Montenegro into a federation of
independent, internationally recognised states based on a motion Montenegrin
leaders have sent to Belgrade this week, a press release in Podgorica said on
Thursday.Podgorica media said Djukanovic will attend the third international
conference on federalism in Brussels on March 3-4, and that his meeting with
Solana was agreed at the initiative of both sides.
Solana's spokesperson Christine Gallach confirmed Solana and Djukanovic
would discuss Podgorica's concrete proposal for the reorganisation of Serbia
and Montenegro, the situation in Montenegro, relations within the state union
and with the European Union.
Gallach told TV Montenegro the EU would try to help Serbia and
Montenegro find a solution to their relations but not impose one, and that
Solana was in contact with the authorities in Belgrade and Podgorica.
