The 300-page book was published by the Novi Sad-based publishing house "Prometej".
The book is about the contribution of Serbs and other Orthodox believers from Zagreb to the economic and cultural progress of Croatia's capital.
According to the book, one of the founders of the first Croatian Savings Bank in Zagreb was Serb Atanas Popovic.
The first Serbs to come to Zagreb were salesmen and they received their legal status in 1781 under a decree on tolerance signed by Emperor Joseph II.
Apart from their cultural and economic contribution, the author also mentioned conflict moments in the history, namely when Serbs were exposed to attacks and trials which had its culmination during the Nazi-styled Independent State of Croatia (1941-1945).
The eighty-three year old author, art historian and academician, was born in Zagreb and moved to Belgrade in 1941. He wrote many books, studies, monographs on Serbs in Trieste and Vienna.
