Seks, who is on a two-day visit to France, today visited the National Assembly, where he met representatives of the strongest French parties and the president of the Croatian-French friendship group, MP Partick Bloche.
The French parliamentary officials have offered unanimous and full support to Croatia on its road to the EU, Seks said.
They also addressed the issue of cooperation with the Hague tribunal, i.e. the problem of the runaway general Ante Gotovina, which is the main political criterion for the start of membership talks in March, Seks said.
He said that his French hosts were aware that Croatia could not do the impossible. "We have told our French colleagues that Croatia is doing its best to successfully solve that problem," he added.
The president of the Croatian-French friendship group, MP Partick Bloche, said that economic conditions were possibly more important than the problem of General Gotovina. The problem of General Gotovina should not slow down Croatia's integration with the EU, particularly because Croatia is doing its utmost to locate him, Bloche said.
Seks said that the French MPs welcomed the high degree of consensus among all Croatian parliamentary parties on Croatia's accession to the EU.
Croatia has been recognised as the political leader in South-East Europe which cooperates on the regional level as well, Seks said.
On Wednesday Seks will meet his host, the President of the National Assembly, Jean Louis Debre, the President of the Senate, Christian Poncelet, and European Affairs Minister Claudia Heignere.
