SARAJEVO, Jan 24 (Hina) - Muslim and Croat politicians from Bosnia-Herzegovina are divided on the initiative by Croatian President Stjepan Mesic aimed at revoking the right of Croats in Bosnia to vote at elections in Croatia, Sarajevo-based Dnevni Avaz daily said on Monday.

The daily cited a member of the Bosnian Presidency and president of the Democratic Action Party (SDA), Sulejman Tihic, as saying that Mesic's proposal was entirely in line with the real position of Croats in Bosnia because Bosnia was their Homeland. He added that Croats in Bosnia should understand that Mesic's initiative was in fact in their interest.

The president of the Party for Bosnia-Herzegovina (SBiH) and member of the ruling coalition, Safet Halilovic, said that the right of Bosnian Croats to vote at elections in Croatia was anachronism from the rule of Franjo Tudjman and Gojko Susak. He claims that Tudjman and Susak in fact granted Bosnian Croats the right to vote because they needed their support for the implementation of the idea on a Greater Croatia.

A member of the Presidency of the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BH), Josip Merdzo, said that the right of Bosnia Croats must not be revoked.

The head of The Opposition's New Croatian Initiative, Kresimir Zubak, also does not support Mesic's Initiative.
