ZAGREB, Jan 20 (Hina) - A US judge has passed a ruling on the extradition of Bosnia's former ambassador to the UN Muhamed Sacirbey to Bosnia-Herzegovina, where he will answer for charges of embezzling more than 2.4 million dollars of government funds, foreign news agencies have reported.

New York judge Frank Maas has given Sacirbey ten days to appeal against the ruling. The 48-year-old Sacirbey, a US citizen living in New York, has said that he will appeal, Associated Press has reported.

France Presse has quoted Sacirbey's attorneys as saying that there is no agreement on extradition between the United States and Bosnia-Herzegovina and that Bosnia-Herzegovina has failed to prove that any criminal act was committed.

Sacirbey, Bosnia's ambassador to the UN in the period between 1992 and 2000, has said that he spent his own money to perform his official duties at the time when Bosnia's mission to the UN did not receive funds from its government.

A court in Bosnia-Herzegovina issued a warrant for Sacirbey's arrest in 2001. He was arrested in March 2003 and was placed under house arrest in July 2004.

The US judge said in his ruling of last Tuesday that there was founded suspicion that Sacirbey had embezzled the money.
