According to the latest opinion poll conducted by the International Republican Institute in Macedonia at the end of 2004, over half of respondents cited unemployment as the biggest problem, while one quarter of Macedonians regarded lack of money as their biggest concern.

Asked whether they supported the 2001 Ohrid Agreement, which ended the armed conflict between ethnic Albanian rebels and Macedonian forces, 57 percent answered in the affirmative, while 38 percent slammed the deal.
