Explaining his decision in a letter to Kosor's election headquarters, Letica said that Kosor was using tolerant and civilised rhetoric in her campaign, while Mesic was using the rhetoric of "the Balkan street and dive which is not unfamiliar with defamation and even public humiliation of his rival".
Letica also notes that Kosor is advocating the rights of the most vulnerable categories of society, while her rival is supported by a group of "corrupt and dangerous people".
Letica believes that differences between the two candidates with regard to party support are not significant, because both candidates "are backed by parties which have ruled Croatia for more than half a century and which in the past 15 years have impoverished the country, plundered and sold state assets and stopped national development".
Letica also believes that Mesic used only 40 percent of his constitutional powers and that he allowed the marginalisation of the presidential function.
Letica's letter was forwarded to the media by Kosor's election team.
