ZAGREB, Jan 6 (Hina) - The State Election Commission (DIP) has turned down a second complaint by presidential candidate Boris Miksic whereby he sought that votes from last Sunday's presidential elections be recounted and compared with voter lists and that the elections be repeated, the DIP reported on Thursday.

Miksic claimed to be in possession of information proving irregularities in the voting procedure in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The DIP established that there had been no irregularities at 21 polling stations in the area of Zadar and that local election committees had conducted the elections in line with the law and made valid registers.

As for Miksic's complaint about two missing ballots at a polling station in the town of Bjelovar, the DIP established that the ballots had been given to the voters, who obviously failed to cast them into the boxes with ballots and took them when they left the polling station. This did not affect election results at the polling station nor could it have affected the outcome of the elections, the DIP said.

The DIP also established that the documents which Miksic attached to his complaint did not prove any irregularities in the conduct of election bodies.
