ZAGREB, Jan 5 (Hina) - The Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) and its presidential candidate Djurdja Adlesic are satisfied with their results in last Sunday's presidential vote and believe that they would have been better if the turnout had been higher and if the elections had been held at a more appropriate time instead of during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

This was stated at a news conference on Wednesday by HSLS president Ivan Cehok and his deputy Djurdja Adlesic.

Commenting on the televised debate between presidential candidates Stjepan Mesic and Jadranka Kosor in the night of the elections, Cehok said that it resembled a show and called for more appropriate conduct in the second election round.

Adlesic called on voters to go to the polls on January 16, but like Cehok, she would not say who they should vote for. Commenting on candidate Boris Miksic's claims about an election fraud, Adlesic said that his case should be investigated but that staging protest rallies was inappropriate and harmful for the country.

Commenting on Foreign Minister Miomir Zuzul's resignation, Adlesic said that it was a belated act of morality.

Asked about teams which are to conduct negotiations with the EU, Cehok suggested that one of the negotiators be Croatian National Bank vice-governor Boris Vujcic. He added that his party would also support Neven Mimica if he were not a member of the Social Democratic Party.
