ZAGREB, Jan 3 (Hina) - Croatian Army Brigadier Tomislav Pavicic willassume the duties of deputy commander of the United Nationspeacekeeping mission in India and Pakistan on January 5 and will thusbecome the highest ranking Croatian
soldier in an international peacemission, the Defence Ministry said on Monday.
ZAGREB, Jan 3 (Hina) - Croatian Army Brigadier Tomislav Pavicic will
assume the duties of deputy commander of the United Nations peacekeeping
mission in India and Pakistan on January 5 and will thus become the highest
ranking Croatian soldier in an international peace mission, the Defence
Ministry said on Monday.This will be the second peacekeeping mission for Brigadier Pavicic after
one in Sierra Leone where he served as an operational officer in 2002.
Croatia became involved in the UN Military Observer Group in India and
Pakistan (UNMOGIP) mission in 2002. There are five Croatian soldiers in India
and Pakistan at the moment.
Croatian troops are currently participating in seven peacekeeping
missions, and the Defence Ministry said it was expecting more invitations this
year.
