Addressing those who came in the Park Hotel for his rally, Cesic said his candidacy for the Croatian presidential elections was the result of the wish of Croatian generals who fought in the Homeland Defence War.
He reiterated his position that the runaway general Ante Gotovina was not an obstacle on Croatia's path towards the European Union. Cesic said that the indictment issued by the UN war crimes tribunal against Gotovina way actually drawn up in Belgrade.
Cesic also criticised the recent visit which incumbent Prime Minister Ivo Sanader paid to Belgrade, adding that the visit was organised "for the purpose of the joint admission of Croatia and Serbia-Montenegro to the EU in 2010".
Commenting on his economic programme, Cesic said he was in favour of establishing a Croatian bank with Croatian businessmen abroad.
