LJUBLJANA, Oct 27 (Hina) - Security cooperation among 14 countries
of Central and Southeastern Europe in combating illegal migrations and
exchanges of information on trans-border crime are improving by the year, the
countries' interior ministers, including Croatia's Ivica Kirin, said at a
conference in Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia, on Friday. This year's
security conference focused on illegal migrations, organised crime, document
forgery, and the potential threat of terrorism.
We're not a centre or target of terrorism at the moment, but we must be
vigilant because terrorism is the scourge of our time and no country is safe
from it, Austrian Interior Minister Liese Prokop said at a closing press
conference.
She said that the countries in the region needed to cooperate in
gathering information on the financing of terrorists, their recruitment
methods, and their communications via the Internet.
