BELGRADE, Oct 25 (Hina) - A district prosecutor's office in
Belgrade on Wednesday submitted a motion to launch an investigation into five
people, reportedly senior military officials, who are suspected of aiding and
abetting the runaway Hague tribunal indictee Ratko Mladic, the Belgrade
electronic media reported. Court proceedings against ten people
previously indicted for aiding and abetting Mladic continued today. The crime
they are charged with entails a prison sentence ranging from one to eight
years.
Today's hearing was marked by debates on whether the trial of Mladic's
aides will be open to the public or held behind closed doors.
The trial chamber in charge of the case stuck by its position that the
trial will be closed to the public.
