EU justice and home affairs ministers hold informal meeting

ZAGREB/TAMPERE, Sept 21 (Hina) - Justice and interior minister of European Union member-states on Thursday met in the Finnish city of Tampere where they agreed on new measures for countering terrorism in light of the recently prevented terrorist attacks in Great Britain, Germany and Denmark.
ZAGREB/TAMPERE, Sept 21 (Hina) - Justice and interior minister of European Union member-states on Thursday met in the Finnish city of Tampere where they agreed on new measures for countering terrorism in light of the recently prevented terrorist attacks in Great Britain, Germany and Denmark.

Croatia's Justice Minister Ana Lovrin, and Interior Minister Ivica Kirin also attend the meeting.

On Thursday morning, EU justice ministers discussed the streamlining of civil legislation at a meeting chaired by Finnish Minister of Justice, Leena Luhtanen.

"The ministers have delivered an important political message: we must make start on bringing greater coherence to civil-rights legislation. We will be looking to Commission.", Minister Luhtanen said in Tampere at the informal meeting of EU justice and home affairs ministers, according to a press release on Finland's EU Presidency website.

"The same morning, the ministers of the interior discussed how to improve implementation of the EU Counter-Terrorism Strategy. According to the Finnish Minister of the Interior, Kari Rajamaeki, the EU's security authorities must continue to respond to the changing nature of terrorism. He said that, during its Presidency, Finland would try to improve the exchange of information between authorities in the EU" reads the press release.
