ZAGREB, Sept 10 (Hina) - Croatia has not received an official
request from the European Union to send its troops to Lebanon, the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and European Integration said in a statement on Sunday refuting
an article in Jutarnji List which read that Croatia had refused to send its
troops to Lebanon. The newspaper said in today's issue that Croatia
had given a negative answer to a EU request for sending a military police unit
to Lebanon. The idea of sending soldiers there was scrapped after a review of
the state of the equipment, it added.
The foreign ministry said that if it received an official EU request to
send troops to Lebanon, "we will consider it".
Earlier today, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader too refuted the Jutarnji List
allegations.
