ZAGREB, June 28 (Hina) - The ambassadors of European Union member countries (COREPER) in Brussels on Wednesday adopted the European Commission's report on the screening of two policy chapters for Croatia, a source from EU president Austria said.

The two policy chapters refer to market competition, in which Croatia was given benchmarks, and to the customs union, in which it was not given benchmarks.

Croatia will be able to open negotiations on the market competition chapter only upon meeting the benchmarks referring to state support for shipbuilding and the steel industry.

Today, the Austrian presidency will send an official invitation to the Croatian government to submit its negotiating positions on the two chapters.

Turkey was not given the green light for the customs union, which means that already on this level the negotiating process was separated for the two countries.

This was the first time COREPER adopted an EC report for Croatia while rejecting it for Turkey.

Croatia has so far been invited to submit its negotiating positions on five chapters.
