BELGRADE, June 21 (Hina) - The newly elected prime minister of
Serbia, Ivana Dulic Markovic, has said that Serbia must not lose interest and
continuity in efforts invested in the process of drawing closer to the European
Union, despite the discontinuation of Serbia's negotiations on the
Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU. "Negotiations
with the EU and efforts of the Serbian government are not only invested in the
country's drawing closer to the EU, but also in internal reforms that need to
be implemented in Serbia," Dulic Markovic told reporters on Tuesday evening
after being elected deputy prime minister.
The EU decided to discontinue negotiations with Serbia and Montenegro
in early May over the country's failure to extradite ICTY Ratko Mladic, after
which the then deputy prime minister Miroljub Labus resigned.
