ZAGREB, June 2 (Hina) - The Montenegrin parliament will convene on Saturday evening to declare Montenegro's independence by adopting a decision on independence and a declaration on the principles on which the country's independence will be founded, Parliament Speaker Ranko Krivokapic said on Friday.

Before the adoption of the important decisions, the chairman of the Referendum Commission, Frantisek Lipka, will submit a report on the referendum process and its results.

Numerous international politicians and members of the diplomatic corps were invited to the parliament session. It is not known yet if the session will be attended by representatives of the defeated unionist bloc which advocated the state union with Serbia.

The club of deputies of the Socialist People's Party (SNP), the leading party in the unionist bloc, previously stated that after the EU announced its position on the referendum, the party intended to follow democratic and European principles and standards in its future political work. A decision on whether SNP deputies will attend the parliament session will be made on Saturday morning, after talks between SNP leader Predrag Bulatovic and EU commissioner Javier Solana in Belgrade.

Other parties of the unionist bloc said they would not attend the session because they did not recognise the referendum results.

The government in Podgorica said that immediately after the declaration of independence Montenegro would start working on the establishment of full relations with all international financial institutions and seek resumption of talks with the EU and the WTO.

Serbia and Montenegro President Svetozar Marovic said today that the authorities of Serbia and Montenegro would start dealing with all outstanding issues on Monday.

The pro-independence bloc stated that the issue of state was closed once and for all and called on Montenegrin politicians to work on internal reconciliation and for the benefit of Montenegro.

The parliament of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro will no longer sit because there is no reason for that any more, Parliament Speaker Zoran Sami said today.

"There are no bills on the agenda, and the moment conditions are created for Serbia to assume the legal continuity of the State Union, the State Union and its institutions, including the Assembly of Serbia and Montenegro, will cease to exist," Sami told Beta news agency.

The state parliament last met on May 11.
