Around 50 percent of Croatia's legislation pertaining to statistics is adjusted to the relevant EU legislation, Croatia's chief negotiator for this chapter, Zlatan Froelich, said.
Legislative adjustment in the chapter on statistics, which contains around 500 regulations, will require significant investments, said Froelich and the head of the working group for statistics, Mijo Jukic.
The EU acquis communautaire in the area of statistics requires the adoption of fundamental principles such as impartiality, reliability, transparency, confidentiality of individual data and dissemination of official statistical data. This chapter also includes the methodology, classification and collection of data in various areas, such as statistical infrastructure, macroeconomic statistics, price statistics, business statistics, demographic and social policy, agricultural statistics, etc.
