Speaking to reporters after a closed meeting, committee chairman Ivica Racan said that the talks with the EU would be neither fast nor easy.
"These (negotiating) chapters are important and their adjustment to European standards will require considerable funds," Racan said, adding that 11 billion euros would have to be earmarked for the environment alone.
Racan announced that on 7 June the Croatian negotiating team would present to the committee non-discriminatory measures aimed at preventing the large-scale sale of real estate to foreign nationals.
He said that the committee had also discussed a European Commission report on the public procurement chapter.
"Here particular emphasis is placed on the implementation and not just on the adjustment of legislation," Racan said, recalling that talks on that chapter had not yet begun.
