ZAGREB, June 13 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on
Tuesday received the outgoing Swedish Ambassador Sture Theolin, awarding him
the Prince Branimir With Chain Order for his contribution to the development of
Croatian-Swedish relations, Mesic's office said in a statement.
Mesic said that Theolin had sometimes been critical of some aspects of
Croatia's policy over his five-year term, but that the criticism had been
useful.
Theolin thanked Mesic for the decoration.
He pointed to omissions in overcoming the legacy of the recent wars and
in affirming the truth about past events. He also underlined the need for full
transparency in Croatian-Swedish economic relations so that investors would
not withdraw from projects in Croatia, as had been the case with some from
Sweden.
