"The international community will not allow the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina to be endangered," the OHR said in a statement, adding that Republika Srpska, as one of Bosnia's two entities, "has no jurisdiction to organise a referendum on separation".
Something like that would represent a violation of the Bosnian Constitution and the Dayton peace agreement, the statement said, underlining that "Bosnia and Herzegovina is not in question now or in the future".
The statement also cautioned that High Representative Christian Schwartz-Schilling was ready to exert his Bonn Powers "if those were necessary to preserve peace and stability".
The High Representative is entitled, among other things, to replace the highest state officials. Unlike his predecessors, Schwartz-Schilling has not exerted his special powers yet.
