WASHINGTON, May 11 (Hina) - The chairman of Bosnia-Herzegovina's three-man presidency, Sulejman Tihic, on Thursday held talks with U.S. officials in Washington on the political situation in Bosnia.

After his talks with U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and the U.S. State Secretary, Condoleezza Rice, Tihic said that Washington supported the continuation of constitutional reforms in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

"The United States stands by Bosnia-Herzegovina, they support us in the process of constitutional reforms," Tihic said after the talks in the State Department.

He added that he had talked with Rice about concrete steps "which should be taken so that the current draft of amendments be adopted".

In late April, the House of Representatives of Bosnia's state parliament dismissed the draft of constitutional amendments which were the result of the US-brokered negotiations among several major political parties. U.S. diplomats and some representatives of the international community expressed disappointment with the outcome of the vote. Major parties failed to ensure two thirds of the votes in favour of the bill which was necessary for its passage.
