SARAJEVO, May 27 (Hina) - The presidents of Liberal parties from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia and Montenegro met in Sarajevo on Saturday to discuss political systems in Southeast Europe and their integration into the European Union.

Also in attendance was Croatian People's Party (HNS) leader Vesna Pusic, who said the government policies of nearly all countries from the region founded their EU accession ambitions on political platforms promoted by Liberal parties 10 years ago.

Pusic said there was no alternative to European integration as the only serious prospect for Croatia and all other countries in the region.

Civic Alliance of Serbia president Natasa Micic said the extremists in Serbia, such as the Serbian Radical Party or the Socialist Party, although still strong, were definitely part of the political past, whereas the future was on Liberal parties, which she said were gaining an increasing number of supporters.

Liberal Party of Montenegro president Miodrag Zivkovic and Bosnian Liberal Democratic Party president Lamija Tanovic also said Liberal political forces in the region were inevitably becoming stronger.
